Glutathione is a small molecule naturally made in the body and one of its main antioxidants. “Reduced” glutathione (GSH) is the active form that can neutralize reactive species, as opposed to the oxidized form. Glutaone supplies this reduced form at 1200mg per vial.
Because it is assembled from three amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid and glycine. The cysteine residue carries the thiol (-SH) group that is central to glutathione’s antioxidant activity. This three-amino-acid structure is what the term tripeptide refers to.
Reduced glutathione is prone to oxidation in solution. Supplying it as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder keeps the 1200mg of active glutathione stable in the sealed vial until it is reconstituted into solution immediately before use, so it is administered in its active form.
