Hitox 100U is a Korean botulinum toxin type A manufactured by Humedix Co., Ltd. in Seongnam, South Korea. Each single-use vial contains 100 units of botulinum toxin type A as freeze-dried (lyophilized) white powder for reconstitution. Humedix is also the manufacturer of Liztox — Hitox and Liztox are sister products from the same Humedix botulinum toxin production platform.

Why this product is different

Hitox is manufactured by Humedix Co., Ltd., a Korean pharmaceutical company headquartered in Seongnam, South Korea. Humedix operates a dedicated botulinum toxin production line and maintains a proprietary working strain of Clostridium botulinum in its production seed bank. Humedix is also the manufacturer of Liztox — Hitox and Liztox are sister botulinum toxin brands from the same Humedix production platform, positioned at different price points and distribution channels. Hitox is freeze-dried (lyophilized), supplied as white powder in a colorless vial. After reconstitution with 0.9% sterile saline, the solution is clear and transparent.

Mechanism of action

Botulinum toxin type A is a presynaptic neuromuscular blocker. Following injection into target muscle, the toxin’s heavy chain binds to specific receptors on motor nerve terminals; the light chain is internalised into the nerve cytoplasm, where it enzymatically cleaves SNAP-25 — a SNARE complex protein required for acetylcholine vesicle fusion at the neuromuscular junction. Without SNAP-25, acetylcholine release into the synaptic cleft is blocked, the motor nerve cannot signal the muscle fibre to contract, and the targeted muscle relaxes. New axon terminals eventually sprout and restore neuromuscular signalling, at which point clinical effect wanes.

Frequently asked questions

What is Hitox 100U?

Hitox 100U is a Korean botulinum toxin type A manufactured by Humedix Co., Ltd. in Seongnam, South Korea. Each single-use vial contains 100 units of botulinum toxin type A as freeze-dried (lyophilized) white powder for reconstitution with 0.9% sterile saline before injection.

Who manufactures Hitox?

Hitox is manufactured by Humedix Co., Ltd., a Korean pharmaceutical company headquartered in Seongnam, South Korea. Humedix operates a dedicated botulinum toxin production line and is also the manufacturer of Liztox — a sister product from the same Humedix production platform.

How is Hitox different from Liztox?

Both Hitox and Liztox are manufactured by Humedix Co., Ltd. using the same production platform and same proprietary working strain. They are sister products with different brand positioning and distribution channels. The active ingredient, freeze-drying process, and excipient profile are equivalent.

What is Hitox commonly used for?

Common aesthetic application zones include glabellar lines, forehead lines, lateral canthal lines, masseter contouring, brow lift refinement, mentalis muscle, and platysma bands. Therapeutic uses include hyperhidrosis. Specific dosing per zone is determined by the treating practitioner.

How is Hitox different from Botulax?

Both are Korean freeze-dried botulinum toxin type A products from different manufacturers using different working strains. Hitox is manufactured by Humedix in Seongnam, South Korea. Botulax is manufactured by Hugel Pharma in Chuncheon, South Korea, using Hugel’s proprietary working strain. Choice depends on practitioner preference.

How is Hitox different from Meditoxin?

Both are Korean freeze-dried botulinum toxin type A products from different manufacturers using different working strains. Hitox is manufactured by Humedix. Meditoxin is manufactured by Medytox using the Hall A-hyper working strain (KAIST lineage). Both are freeze-dried products requiring 2–8 °C storage and reconstitution before injection.

How is Hitox different from Hutox?

Both are Korean freeze-dried botulinum toxin type A products from different manufacturers. Hitox is manufactured by Humedix Co., Ltd. in Seongnam. Hutox is manufactured by Huons BioPharma (Huons Group) — a separate Korean pharmaceutical group.

What does the Hitox vial look like before reconstitution?

Hitox is freeze-dried (lyophilized), so the vial contains a visible white or off-white solid ‘cake’ of powder. This is the standard appearance for freeze-dried botulinum toxin products. After reconstitution with 0.9% sterile saline, the cake dissolves into a clear, colourless solution.

How long does Hitox last?

Onset and duration vary with individual anatomy, muscle mass, metabolism, treatment zone, and dosing strategy. Practitioners can refer to published clinical literature for general expectations.

What are the storage requirements?

Store unopened vials at 2–8 °C, protected from light. Do not freeze. After reconstitution with 0.9% sterile saline, use within 24 hours when stored refrigerated. Discard any unused reconstituted product per institutional protocol.

A friend recommended Hitox after I started building resistance to my usual tox. I didn’t expect much, but wow, it hit hard and fast. My crow’s feet are completely gone. I did notice it wore off a tiny bit faster than Dysport around the 3-month mark, but honestly, it’s so affordable that I don’t mind touching up a little sooner. The quality is clearly there.
