Innotox 50U by Medytox Inc. is a ready-to-use liquid botulinum toxin type A. Each single-use vial contains 50 units of Clostridium botulinum (Hall A-hyper working strain) pre-dissolved in sterile saline. Innotox was the first commercially launched liquid botulinum toxin (2013) and does not require reconstitution with saline before injection — a clinic-workflow alternative to traditional freeze-dried botulinum toxin products.

Why this product is different

Innotox is pre-dissolved in sterile saline at the factory — unlike traditional freeze-dried botulinum toxin products which require the clinician to mix sterile saline with lyophilized powder before each injection session. Liquid format reduces per-session preparation steps. Innotox was launched by Medytox in 2013 as the world’s first commercially available liquid botulinum toxin type A, manufactured using Medytox’s Lyo-liquid technology for room-temperature handling and refrigerated storage stability. Innotox is produced from the same Hall A-hyper Clostridium botulinum working strain as Medytox’s freeze-dried Meditoxin. The differentiation is the manufacturing format (liquid vs lyophilized), not the active ingredient.

Mechanism of action

Botulinum toxin type A is a presynaptic neuromuscular blocker. The active ingredient is the same in liquid and freeze-dried formulations — the difference is manufacturing format, not mechanism of action. Following injection into target muscle, the toxin’s heavy chain binds to specific receptors on motor nerve terminals; the light chain is internalised into the nerve cytoplasm, where it enzymatically cleaves SNAP-25 — a SNARE complex protein required for acetylcholine vesicle fusion at the neuromuscular junction. Without SNAP-25, the motor nerve cannot signal the muscle fibre to contract, and the targeted muscle relaxes. New axon terminals eventually sprout and restore neuromuscular signalling, at which point clinical effect wanes.

Frequently asked questions

What is Innotox 50U?

Innotox 50U is a ready-to-use liquid botulinum toxin type A manufactured by Medytox Inc. Each pre-filled vial contains 50 units of botulinum toxin type A in sterile saline solution. Unlike freeze-dried botulinum toxin products, Innotox does not require reconstitution before injection.

Who manufactures Innotox?

Innotox is manufactured by Medytox Inc. in the Republic of Korea. Innotox was launched by Medytox in 2013 as the first commercially available liquid botulinum toxin type A.

Why is Innotox liquid instead of freeze-dried?

Innotox is pre-dissolved at the factory using Medytox’s Lyo-liquid manufacturing process, so clinicians do not need to reconstitute it with saline before each injection. This is a clinic-workflow distinction — the active ingredient (botulinum toxin type A) is the same as in freeze-dried products from Medytox and other manufacturers.

Does Innotox 50U need reconstitution?

No. Innotox is supplied as a ready-to-use liquid formulation. Open the vial, draw with a sterile syringe, and inject — no reconstitution with saline required.

What is the Hall A-hyper strain?

The Hall A-hyper strain is Medytox’s working strain of Clostridium botulinum, derived from the Hall A reference strain. The same strain is used to produce Medytox’s freeze-dried Meditoxin and liquid Innotox products.

How is Innotox 50U different from Innotox 100U?

Innotox 50U contains 50 units of botulinum toxin type A per vial; Innotox 100U contains 100 units. Both share the same liquid formulation, Hall A-hyper strain, and Lyo-liquid manufacturing process. The choice between formats is a clinic-workflow decision based on per-session volume.

How is Innotox different from Botulax?

Both are Korean botulinum toxin type A products from different manufacturers. Innotox (Medytox) is a ready-to-use liquid formulation. Botulax (Hugel) is freeze-dried lyophilized powder requiring reconstitution before injection. They also use different working strains (Hall A-hyper vs CBFC26).

How is Innotox different from Meditoxin?

Both are manufactured by Medytox using the same Hall A-hyper working strain. Meditoxin is freeze-dried (lyophilized powder) and requires reconstitution. Innotox is a ready-to-use liquid formulation that does not require reconstitution. Choice depends on clinic-workflow preference.

What are the storage requirements?

Store unopened vials at 2–8 °C, protected from light. Do not freeze. As a liquid formulation, Innotox is supplied ready-to-use — no reconstitution step. Use within the recommended in-use period after first vial opening per manufacturer instructions.

How long does Innotox 50U last?

Onset and duration vary with individual anatomy, muscle mass, metabolism, treatment zone, and dosing strategy. Practitioners can refer to published clinical literature for general expectations specific to their indication.
